After a lifetime of military moves, Sandra Wilkinson chose Northern Virginia as the place to start her own burgeoning business. Known even from her high school days, as the girl who gets things done Sandra has earned her reputation. In her committee work for the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors she is described as generally quiet, but "when she talks, you better listen". Sandra is the person you want on your real estate team.
Her real estate career began in Charleston SC and progressed to earning a Lifetime Membership in the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors Top Producer Club and Million Dollar Club. As the president and broker of a multi-office real estate company in Alexandria she gave new agents a kick start to their careers with her competitive training curriculum.
Michael's real estate career began in CA as an appraiser and continued as a real estate broker/owner and lender in West Virginia before finding his home in Northern Virginia. His business acumen and attention to detail were of paramount importance to the development of these companies.
In 1991 Sandra, a successful real estate broker and Michael Fogarty, an enterprising mortgage broker, combined their talents to create Wilkinson PM, Inc. and HomeFirst Realty
The challenging real estate market had just gone through a periodic spike and had fallen into a trough that would last until 1999. Homes could only be sold at a loss during this period. In order to rescue their clients, they planned Wilkinson PM to care for homes until the market recovered at which time HomeFirst Realty was primed to sell the homes.
The company was well-regarded by other agents and by landlords. The company grew one home at a time as landlords and other agents spread the word of the careful management techniques originated by Sandra and Michael.
Through their membership in the National Association of Residential Property Managers , Sandra & Michael were certified as RPMs by taking advanced courses and earning recommendations from their owner clients and from other professional property managers.
In 1997 Sandra and Michael bought the first of four additional management companies to merge with Wilkinson PM. Growth is continuing with Patrick Fogarty and Lee Wilkinson at the helm.
Patrick Fogarty got the entrepreneurial bug early in life from his parents Marie & Michael, both of whom created their own successful businesses. Patrick had started four ventures of his own before finally joining the family business in 2005. Now he is Owner/Principal Broker of Wilkinson PM and Associate Broker of HomeFirst Realty. Always a strong supporter of the environment, Patrick recently obtained a Realtor "Green Designation" which allows him to work with clients interested in Energy Star, LEED Certified, and Earthcraft homes. He is the proud owner of a 3.1 Kilowatt Photovoltaic solar system on his home which he uses to power his 100% electric vehicle!
Patrick is a private pilot. He learned to fly a helicopter in Camarillo, CA and later a fixed- wing plane in Denver, CO. Time and weather permitting he tries to go flying whenever possible. Patrick also rides a motorcycle, and enjoys snowboarding, kayaking, hiking, playing tennis and trying out new and fun sports.
Lee Wilkinson graduated from West Springfield High School and has been part of the Northern Virginia community since his father was first stationed at the Pentagon back in 1972. After earning his Master of Science in Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University, Lee joined the firm determined to spur the company onward. As part of Sandra and Mike retiring from active property management, Lee took over as Associate Broker of WPM and Principal Broker of HomeFirst Realty. His experience with the Virginia State Bar and analytical approach enhances the value of our company.
Remembering the angst of moving to new towns during his fathers Navy career makes Lee aware of the tension and fear involved in each family's transition. He is very conscious of the high-cost shock in Northern Virginia real estate and works to help everyone into a new home whether renting or buying.
Teresa Croce is our office manager/accountant. She started working with Sandra Wilkinson, the original founder of Wilkinson PM, at another real estate company in 1987. Teresas background is in business and accounting. In 1989, she obtained her real estate license. In 2004, Teresa joined Wilkinson PM as our office manager. She has known the Wilkinson and Fogarty families for over 25 years and has been a valuable asset to the company. Her experience has helped the company succeed and expand. Teresa is very familiar with the properties we manage and our clients as she has been playing a very significant role at our office.
Teresa and her husband made many frequent moves in the 1980s and so she feels very sympathetic to military families. Teresa is married and has two daughters. She is active in her church community and is a Girl Scout leader.
Beate Whitesell joined Wilkinson PM and HomeFirstRealty in 2009. Her background is in multi-media production. After graduating magna cum laude from George Mason University she worked in corporate video production and marketing, in broadcast news and later as a freelance TV Editor for numerous production companies and corporate/government clients.
As a real estate agent she has managed nearly 200 residential homes and has represented investors as well as first time and repeat home buyers. In 2012 Beate obtained her ABR (Accredited Buyer Representative) designation from the National Association of REALTORS®. As an Accredited Buyer Representative, she has learned how to best represent buyers in a very competitive real estate market.
Beate loves the outdoors. She enjoys hiking, kayaking, snowboarding, sailing, playing tennis and other outdoor activities. Beate also dances Lindy Hop and Argentine Tango at various local ballrooms and dance venues.
Chris Kroll joined us in Spring of 2011. He was born and raised in the D. C. area. Chris served in the Marines from 1990-1994 during the Gulf War while stationed in CA. Later, Chris worked in marketing for over 12 years and then became a Realtor representing buyers since 2004. For several years he worked as an agent for a relocation company helping military clients (mainly USAA members) find new homes.
Chris has lived in Burke, Woodbridge and Fairfax and is therefore very knowledgeable with our local real estate market.
Christine joined WilkinsonPM in 2008. She has been a professional Property Manager for the entirety of her 30 year career. Christines real estate career began in Northwest Florida working with a builder/developer. She eventually acquired her real estate license in the state of Florida. Her career in property management started when working with a builder/developer managing the company owned 320 rental properties. As a licensed agent here in the Washington metro area, she has worked with thousands of property owners/landlords and those looking to purchase or rent properties.
Julie Posey is a property manager based in Southern Maryland which is also her beloved home town. She has lived in Charles and Calvert Counties and knows the area well. In her role as property manager, she is responsible for overseeing the day to day management and operations of a number of residential homes located in the Southern Maryland region.
Julie provides to her clients a vast knowledge of leases, local and state laws and guidelines and expertise that only a seasoned professional could bring. Julie also has strong administrative skills, a deep knowledge of contract and property accounting, not to mention excellent communication skills. She is responsible for initiating and dispatching work order requests with tenants, follow up on those requests with owners, overseeing account payments and the general well being of her clients.
Julie enjoys her work and offers her tenants and home owners a deep level of attention to detail and bottom line performance. In her spare time, Julie enjoys boating, gardening and spending time with her husband and two children.
Derenda joined our Wilkinson family in May 2016, as our Accounting Manager. Her knowledge of accounting, property management and her personal investment rental property ownership experience spans over 30 years. She started and successfully ran her own management company and building/development company for many years. She has lived in Burke since 2003 and is now proud to call it home. Derenda is extremely proud of the success of her two daughters and is overwhelmed with the joy of having a grandson. She enjoys country dancing, the outdoors and is continuously searching for new adventures. She is without a doubt a valuable contributor and a powerful addition to our team.
Lorraine, was born and raised in Fairfax VA and has lived in Northern VA her entire life. She has a thorough knowledge of the Northern Virginia housing market and its ever expanding suburbs. She began her property management career in 1992 in Alexandria as a front desk/leasing consultant. Lorraine later held almost all positions related to property management including maintenance coordinator, inspector, leasing agent, bookkeeping and staff supervisor. Lorraine has held a Virginia real estate license since 2001 and is currently an Associate Broker and property manager. While Lorraine is a recent addition to the Wilkinson team, her knowledge in all aspects of property management help strengthen the core of our team.
Don Pett came to the DC area to attend The American University where he majored in Justice. He has now lived in Virginia for over 25 years with his wife and 2 kids. He ran restaurants and hotels before becoming a licensed real estate agent in the Fredericksburg area. He has managed Residential and Commercial properties and is a Certified Military Relocation Specialist. Don is a key component to our Stafford/Fredericksburg office.
Don coached his daughters travel softball team and middle school team for 5 years. He is also a huge fan of college sports, especially if Kentucky is playing.
Lisa is a Wisconsin native and a die- hard Packer fan. Being a military spouse brought her to Virginia three decades ago. Lisa has many years of experience in customer service and excellence in the fields of the insurance industry, media print publishing and now property management which she has been doing for the past six years. Lisa is currently pursuing her Virginia Real Estate license.
Lisa is very active in her 2 newlywed daughters lives. She enjoys local parks and is obsessed with her dog Colby.
Mariano Campos, is a University of Maryland graduate and has worked in the field of management for over 15 years. He has experience in risk management, operations management, business development and human resource management. Mariano has volunteered with local organizations and has worked with the Latino community for many years. Mariano is enthusiastic, motivated and always eager to learn. These traits along with his experience and accomplishments are what make him a perfect fit for our management team.
Gene is a lifelong resident of northern Virginia. He grew up in Arlington, VA and currently resides in Fairfax. Gene has 20 years of experience as a licensed Realtor and 10 years of experience as a Property Manager. Gene proclaims that his primary goal is to provide professional yet personal property management services to property owners seeking flexible and personalized services. With many of our clients becoming absentee owners on short notice, Gene takes pride in going beyond the call of duty to ensure that the absentee owners experience evolves into a pleasant and effortless experience.
Thuy was raised in Northern VA and has managed Properties in Alexandria, Arlington, Burke, Bristow, Fairfax, Centreville, Manassas and Woodbridge for the past four years. Thuy has an understanding of the local trends and a broad knowledge of the area which has enriched her ability to provide for her clients. In the past 18 years, Thuy has worked in many aspects of property management including accounting, office management and of course now as a property manager. Thuy is very dedicated and passionate about her professing and it clearly show through her work ethics.
Mary Healey is a property manager in our Wilkinson Property Management Southern Maryland branch office. Although Mary is new to the Wilkinson family, she is not new to property management. She has managed properties of her own in southern Maryland for many years. Mary is also a licensed REALTOR and has been so for over 10 years. Mary is dedicated to making sure her owners, tenants, and clients are provided with a high level of customer service, care, and knowledge.
When Mary is not taking care of your home, you can find her on the golf course, boating with her husband and three children on the Patuxent River, or coordinating commercial breaks for the National Hockey League.
