Improving Our Community

The Team at Wilkinson Property Management & HomeFirst Realty believe in giving back to our local community
and actively participate in the incredible organizations below.
Please look through these very worthy causes and consider donating or volunteering your time if you are able.

Wilkinson PM believes in protecting our environment. Over the years, WPM has participated in the annual trash pickup of Little Hunting Creek as part of the Potomac River watershed cleanup. We recycle everything possible and 100% of our office electricity comes from wind, solar and biomass, through the Dominion Energy Green Power Program.

The Fisher House Program

Wilkinson PM is proud to help support our military families through the Fisher House Foundation. The Fisher House Foundation offers shelter and support on the grounds of every major military medical center. It recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform, as well as the hardships of military service, by meeting a humanitarian need beyond that provided by the Department of Defense.

Fisher House Foundation facilities provide a comforting “home away from home” while a loved one is receiving care in a military medical facility. A long-term stay in a military hospital, sometimes thousands of miles from home, can mean expensive additional lodging and food costs. In recognition of the special sacrifices of our military families, Fisher House Foundation, through donations, provides homes on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. Each Fisher House Foundation offers a warm, compassionate environment where families find support and encouragement from others in similar circumstances.

By contributing to Fisher House Foundation, you too can make a difference in the lives of America’s service members, veterans and their families when they need help the most.

The PTSD Foundation of America

The PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) Foundation of America is dedicated to our brave men and women in uniform who understand duty, honor, and sacrifice. Many have returned home with both the visible scars and the unseen wounds of war. As many as 400,000 service members live and struggle with the invisible wounds of war. Sadly, most think they are alone. Help us reach them.

Little League International

Wilkinson PM sponsors a Springfield Little League T-Ball team. Studies show that participating in team sports is an invaluable first step on the ladder to success in meeting education and career goals. Boys and girls learn to try hard and do their best working together for a championship or even for post-game snacks.

In 1959, President Dwight D. Eisenhower declared the week beginning the second Monday in June as National Little League Week. During this Week local leagues are encouraged to work toward the Good Sport Award which provides local leagues the opportunity to recognize a Little Leaguer who has demonstrated superior qualities of sportsmanship, leadership, a commitment to teamwork and a desire to excel. Most importantly, the criteria for selecting the recipient is in no way based on the child’s playing ability or personal statistics. The award was established to amplify the importance of Little League Baseball and Softball as a leadership training program, utilizing sport as a vehicle for instilling valuable principles of teamwork, discipline, compassion and handling adversity. Players can then apply those lessons in school, jobs and their family lives.

UCM

The HomeFirst Realty/Wilkinson PM family would like every child to have a home. We donate to UCM, an organization that helps hundreds of families each year. It is one of the largest providers of human services in Fairfax County.

Their mission is to build strong families and strong communities by providing:

  1. Critical basic needs services to individuals and families in poverty who are at risk of losing their homes. More than 40% of the people helped are children. Last year 1,400+ individuals in 500+ households received rental or utilities assistance to avoid eviction.
  2. A collaborative effort with Fairfax County Department of Family Services, Northern Virginia Family Service and Reston Interfaith, which offers county wide support services to homeless families.
  3. A transitional housing program. Upon completing 2 years of transitional housing, the families receive one year of aftercare. UCM is responsible for 18 units located in the south county area; there are a total 54 units countywide.
  4. Healthy Families Fairfax is a creative collaboration of three Northern Virginia non-profits providing long-term home visitation services for first-time parents that focus on successful parenting and family support with an emphasis on preventing abuse and neglect. Participation is strictly voluntary and is at no cost for the participants.
